Montessori Moment:

3rd Annual MSBG Cross Country Invitational

Thank you to all who came and enjoyed this fabulous event. We probably had close to 1,000 people on our grounds! Special thanks to Miss Megan, Miss Meg, the PTO and all who helped make it a great success!

We still have a few very yummy sack lunches available for the bargain price of $3. It contains: a turkey sub sandwich, carrots, a gogurt and a water bottle. They are in the foyer refrigerator. Help yourself for tomorrow's lunch or dinner!

International Day of Peace

What a fun day! MSBG strives to perpetuate peace in the world through learning to respect emotions, prevent and resolve conflicts, and learn to respect the environment, both indoors and out.

Alumni Success!

Congrats to MSBG Alumnus, Vitto Brown. He has committed to playing college basketball for the University of Wisconsin.  We remember when he wore a size 12 shoe in the fourth grade. :) CLICK HERE to read an article about him.

Congrats also to MSBG Alumni, Erin Peterson and Erica Rybak, as they finish out a great golf season of their senior year! Our own Miss Paige is their coach. CLICK HERE to read an article about them.

School Picture Day

This upcoming Tuesday is School Picture Day! Your child received information this week on ordering and pricing. Please complete the sheets and give them to either the office or your child's teachers. Please write your child's name on the outside of the envelop. We're excited to have Sherry Couch as our photographer this year. She is an independent photographer who specializes in school photos. She has taken pictures at other Montessori schools and came highly recommended. CLICK HERE for the pricing sheet. CLICK HERE for more information.

What is Peace PALS anyway?

The PEACE PAL program is a K-6 community get-together that is held twice a month on Friday mornings. Each group of PALs has a mixture of students from each grade level. The students in the upper grades act as peer leaders and advisers for their group of six to seven students.
PEACE PALs is an acronym that stands for Promoting Excellence and Character Education through Peer Advising Leaders. Group leaders meet with teacher advisers who present topics and help the leaders brainstorm ways to teach that concept. Concepts deal with core ethical values such as fairness, honesty, compassion, responsibility, and respect for self and others.
Kindergarten teacher Cindy Brechmacher stated, "One amazing aspect of this program is that the same PALS are together throughout their years at MSBG so that the younger students in the group know that someday they will be the leaders."
Students use a variety of techniques including written expression, role-playing, graphing, scripts and technology to explore the ways in which they can learn effective communication and critical thinking skills.
Deb Reddin, who teaches grades 4-6, stated, "The goal of this program is to prepare our students to be citizens of the world. It offers a tangible way for students to learn."

Cross Country News

The cross country team traveled to Bettsville this past Saturday and competed in the Lakota Invitational.  It was a beautiful day for running!  Eleven schools participated in this race.

Our 3rd year students ran 1/2 mile.  Coming in first for the Mustangs and 29th overall out of 118 runners was Isabelle Broman in a time of 3:43.  In second place for our team was Zach Cesarini.  Zach finished in a time of 3:55 and Maddie Cleland finished in a time of 4:22.

Our 4th-6th year students ran 1 mile.  Alexa Whyte led the Mustangs pack and finished 35th overall out of 139 runners in a time of 7:20.  Our next finisher was J.J. Poiry.  J.J. finished 64th overall in a time of 7:56.  Other runners included Laney VanderHart (8:30), Lily Martin-Williams (10:24), Sean Bixler (11:00), and Mary Grace Korducki (12:18).
