Burlington Coat Factory Opens Flagship Store

Rocking the racks with a special acoustic performance by pop-rock band Girls Like Boys, Burlington Coat Factory swung open their new flagship store on Union Square South. The massive new location features three stories of fashion, and occupies 92,000 square feet in the heart of our district. Working with the Union Square Partnership and the NYC Department of Small Business Service’s WorkForce1 program, Burlington recruited over 500 employees from local communities. In addition to creating more jobs, the new store is working with the nonprofit organization Fashion Delivers to donate clothing to local charities such as Latinos Against Domestic Violence, the Lower East Side Service Center, and the Bowery Residents’ Committee.

Tap Your Business into Union Square’s Potential

As a truly mixed-use neighborhood, Union Square is home to over 70,000 residents, 142,000 workers and 40,000 students. Tap into these markets by taking advantage of some of our biggest institution’s employee and student programs. We’ve worked with our partners and developed a comprehensive guide to the neighborhood’s biggest programs to allow capture the purchasing power of over 119,000 employees and students. As a member of any or all of these great programs, you’re sure to drive additional foot traffic to your business, increase sales, and extend your customer base.

Harvest Brings Together Foodies in Support of Union Square Park

The tent was crammed with food, music, and fun this year at the 17th Annual Harvest in the Square. Nashville Attitude, a New York-based band, serenaded the crowds as they indulged in signature dishes made from local, greenmarket ingredients by the neighborhood’s hottest restaurants. Guests even caught a glimpse of Waldo, from the popular Where’s Waldo series, as he joined in on the foodie fun. We'd like to give special thanks to our sponsors and event partners for the tremendous success this year. Together, we raised a record $347,000 for Union Square Park. Don’t miss out on the fun, check out photos from the event and like us on Facebook for updates on next year’s foodie celebration.
