Purpur - European Sound Interchange je skupen projekt treh partnerjev: ad libitum Konzertwerkstatt GmbH iz Beljaka, Festivala Kvarner iz Opatije in našega zavoda. V prijavi, ki jo je v hudi konkurenci podprla tudi Evropska komisija smo želeli še posebej izpostaviti dimenzijo stare glasbe. Tako se naš zavod priključuje projektu Purpur na dveh področjih. Izobraževalni del smo povezali z mojstrskimi tečaji Musica Locopolitana v Škofji Loki konec prejšnjega tedna. Tu sta delavnico za baročno violino vodili violinistka Antoinette Lohmann in čembalistka Tineke Steenbring. Zaključni koncert v polno zasedeni kapeli Loškega gradu je bil za vse, ki si prizadevamo za razvoj stare glasbe v Sloveniji, izjemno zadoščenje zmagovalca. Če ne bi opazili menjavanja vrhunskih mladih talentov od skladbe do skladb in če ne bi osebno poznali, kdo je kdo, bi zagotovo potrdili, da imamo v gosteh ansambel z vrha evropske produkcije stare glasbe. Skratka, bilo je imenitno.
Zdaj prihaja na vrsto drugi od treh dogodkov naše letošnje postfestivalske produkcije. Po Škofji Loki in pred oktobrskim tekmovanjem na Ptuju je pred nami izvedba Haydnove opere Armida. V koncertni postavitvi in v eni tako zelo lepi dvorani, da nas je osvojila ob prvem srečanju. Kristalna dvorana je bila zgrajena v prvi polovici 19. stoletja ob adaptaciji Zdraviliškega doma. Okrašena z dragocenimi stenskimi deli in marmornatimi stebri je gostila mnoga znana imena, samo Franz Lizst je v njej koncertiral dvakrat. Največja znamenitost dvorane so 4 oljna dela avstrijskega slikarja Schröterja iz leta 1912, ki upodabljajo pomembne mejnike oziroma ljudi v razvoju zdravilišča. Svetlobo daje pet ročno izdelanih lestencev Steklarne Rogaška. V poletnem času gosti elitni Anin ples, letos pa je ta čast doletela tudi naš festival. V izjemno spodbudnem poslovnem odnosu s Termami SPA Rogaška razumemo Rogaško Slatino kot strateško lokacijo za približevanju vrhunske kulture v slovenska mikro okolja.
Na osmih avdicijah projekta Purpur - European Sound Interchange so najboljše mlade talente izbrali člani Dunajske in Berlinske filharmonije. Orchester Purpur, ki ga vodi maestro Michael Fendre, vključuje umetnike 15 držav: Albanije, Avstrije, Cipra, Francije, Grčije, Hrvaške, Izraela, Južne Koreje, Kitajske, Madžarske, Poljske, Romunije, Španije, Švice in Velike Britanije. Opera Armida je ena najbolj znanih oper Josepha Haydna, ki jo običajno opisujejo tudi kot eno njegovih najboljših del.

Purpur - European Sound Interchange is a collaborative project of three partners: ad libitum Konzertwerkstatt GmbH from Villach, the Kvarner Festival from Opatija and our institution. In our application, which was, in spite of the tough competition, supported also by the European Commission, we wanted to especially focus on the early music dimension. Therefore, our institution is joining the Purpur Project in two areas. We have connected the educational part with the Musica Locopolitana master courses in Škofja Loka at the end of last week, where the Baroque violin workshop was led by violinist Antoinette Lohmann and harpsichordist Tineke Steenbring. The final concert in the fully booked chapel of the Loka Castle was incredibly rewarding for those of us who work towards the developing of early music in Slovenia. Even if we had not seen the exchanging of the top young talents from one musical work to the other, and if we had not known each of them personally, we still would have agreed that they were top-quality musicians in the early music production area. In short, it was spectacular.
We are now ready for the second of three events in our post festival production for this year. After Škofja Loka and before the competition in Ptuj coming in October, we are headed towards the performance of Haydn’s opera – Armida, which is to happen in a concert setting of a wonderful hall, which charmed us all the first time we saw it. The Crystal Hall was built in the first half of the 19th century when the Zdraviliški Dom Hotel was adapted. Decorated with precious artwork and marble columns, it has hosted many famous names; Franz Liszt alone had a concert there twice. The most remarkable pieces of the hall are 4 oil works by the Austrian painter Schröter from 1912, which portray important landmarks or people in the development of the spa. The light comes from five handmade chandeliers made by Steklarna Rogaška. In the summertime it hosts the exclusive Ana's Ball, and this year our festival has also been given this honour. In our extremely encouraging business relationship with Terme SPA Rogaška, we see Rogaška Slatina as a strategic location for bringing top culture into Slovenia's microenvironments.
In eight auditions by the project Purpur – European Sound Interchange, the best young talents were chosen by members of the Vienna and Berlin Philharmonics. The Pupur Orchestra, which is led by maestro Michael Fendre, includes artists from 15 countries: Albania, Austria, Cyprus, France, Greece, Croatia, Israel, South Chorea, China, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Spain, Switzerland and Great Britain. The opera Armida is one of the most known operas by Joseph Haydn, and is usually also described as one of his best works.
