The Fish Family

the Fish family
Hello <<First Name>>,
In June we began the process of meeting with people to share about our plans to move to Uganda. We plan to go in July of 2013 to teach the children of families who are running an orphanage and Ugandan school. We are very thankful that in these few months over 20% of our needed monthly support has already been pledged. We are also thankful for some recent gifts which have helped to get us to about 20% of our one-time need. Any support that we receive before we leave for Uganda will go toward our large one-time expenses. So if you would like to join our monthly support team, please consider beginning that support soon. We are still praying for another 150 mbaby at GSFonthly supporters to partner with us in this ministry. If you would like to join our monthly support team, click on the Global Outreach logo below. This will take you to a donation form which needs to be printed, filled out, and mailed to Global Outreach at the address listed. This is a direct payment authorization form. If you prefer, you can mail a check each month. We are so thankful for the generous support we have already received! It is very encouraging to receive emails from Global Outreach about new families partnering with us. If you have not yet joined our support team, please pray about whether you feel called to support our ministry.

Speaking of our ministry, we wanted to give you a few updates about the work at Good Shepherd's Fold. First, the new babies home has opened! I have posted a few photos on our blog of some of the children who are being cared for there.
Here's a link to our blog in case you haven't seen it recently. http://schooloffishinafrica.blogspot.com   We were also encouraged to hear that a missionary at GSF now has the funding to start a secondary school in order to provide a better education for the older kids. Please keep the families who are serving at GSF in your prayers as they juggle the educational needs of their own kids with the many needs of the children at GSF.

Zeke's photo In addition to updates about funding and the work at Good Shepherd's Fold, I will give you some updates about our family. We are very thankful that after weeks of sickness, Zeke is back to good health. He had a virus which caused trouble with his breathing. He is much happier and a little calmer now that he is not on steroids. He is still a very energetic and talkative 21 month old. Ezra is enjoying an opportunity to do some preschool at home with Mommy, and loves that he sometimes gets to watch to "Chuck the Truck" while the big kids are at school. Esther and Elijah have begun the school year at Westminster and are both doing well. Lisa is enjoying her last season of coaching volleyball and David is glad to be teaching again at WCA. We are also working on various projects around the house to prepare for renters while we are in Uganda. This weekend we sodded the front yard. It is something we had been hoping to do for years and decided we ought to do before moving.
We also have several other projects and are starting to work on downsizing. Please pray for us to have wisdom as we prioritize and juggle these many different responsibilities.

Here are a few more ways you can be praying for us as we prepare:
  1. Pray that we will be able to communicate clearly the work God has called us to do and help others grow in love and compassion for the orphaned and abandoned children of Uganda.
  2. Pray that all of our needed financial support will come in.
  3. Pray that we will find good renters for our home who will be able to pay enough to cover the mortgage and maintenance expenses of our house here.
  4. Pray that we will be able to prioritize relationships while we juggle the many responsibilities of work, kids, church, support raising, downsizing, and preparations for teaching in Uganda.
  5. Pray for us all to grow in our understanding of God's great love for us, which frees us to follow Him.
  6. Thank God for giving us all a growing excitement to join the work He is doing at Good Shepherd's Fold in Uganda.
  7. Thank God for the ways in which He has provided for our upcoming ministry as well as our current needs.
Thank you for your encouragement and support as we continue to follow our merciful and compassionate Lord.

For His Kingdom,

David and Lisa Fish
