Storm Update

The duration of storm force winds (50+ mph) will be reduced as the hurricane moves further to the east.  Winds of 30+ mph are projected to extend into Tuesday, October 30, 2012 and produce high surf and dangerous rip currents.   As the winds shift northwest today, Sunday, October 28, 2012, they could produce soundside flooding of three to five feet throughout Dare County.  Along with soundside flooding, the threat of ocean flooding of three to six feet will continue to exist due to astronomical tides and storm surge.  The Town of Duck is monitoring these conditions and will provide updates as necessary.

Please be careful if you must go out and about today, Sunday, October 28, 2012, as high winds can cause debris on the roadway and rain is forecasted throughout the day.

Trash Information

Both regular and recycling trash pick up are still scheduled for Monday, October 29, 2012.  It will be picked up a little later in the morning due to weather conditions.  Please be advised, that because of the storm it is recommended that trash containers be rolled out to the curb Monday morning instead of Sunday evening.  This will lessen the chance of containers becoming wind hazards, as well as reduce any flying trash debris due to the projected strong winds.   This is subject to change as conditions change.
