Hi <<First Name>>, welcome to the SWFed's latest e-Bulletin, one of the many ways you can keep in touch with news and developments in the heritage sector in the South West.
Since the last e-Bulletin we’ve heard that the BBC are looking for stories from museums about traditional farming methods, the Balfour Museum is closing and are offering disposals to Accredited museums and that the Collections Trust are offering a new documentation software comparison service. The website has also been inundated with notices of training events happening across the region and the Museums Skills Programme is booking up fast.
We hope to see you at the Autumn Forum, which will be held on 23 November at the MShed in Bristol on the topic of ‘Working with Young People in Your Museum’. This free event is a unique opportunity for all museum managers, learning and development staff and volunteers to gain advice, ideas and practical solutions for engaging with young people in a variety of ways.

Digital Development Project
In October the South West Digital Development Partnership (DDP) was awarded a grant of £92,400 from the Arts Council England's Strategic Support Fund.
The DDP is a partnership of Museum Development Officers from Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Gloucestershire, Somerset and Wiltshire. Between now and March 2013 the will carry out projects across the South West to help accredited museums reach further into the digital world. These will include:
-
the creation of a Digital Forum for the South West, with resources and events to support museums using new media
-
new and improved tourist-friendly websites
-
training for museum staff and volunteers
-
proposals for online access to museum collections
Through this project around 200 museums across the South West will be able to improve their digital skills and benefit from expert support and advice to make the most of the opportunities that new technologies offer. Please contact your Museum Development Officer if you would like to know more.
