Lesley Forges Partnership to Publish Teacher Resources
Lesley University has begun a relationship with Teacher Created Materials (TCM), a publisher of professional resources for teachers and supplementary materials for students, with six faculty members authoring titles in 2012.

Teacher Created Materials and its professional resources division, Shell Education, was founded by a teacher with a mission of producing materials “created by teachers for teachers.” The relationship was initiated by Lesley Trustee Barbara Russell and Lesley Professor Dr. Linda Dacey, and has recently formalized with a five-year agreement where Lesley faculty submit manuscripts to be published by TCM/Shell.

Lesley graduate finds fulfillment through entrepreneurship in the health supplements industry
New chapters often lead to next chapters. In the case of Barbi Landgarten Schulick ’74, co-founder of New Chapter, a leading vitamin and herbal supplement company, a degree from Lesley University, coupled with a lifelong interest in learning, has resulted in a range of unexpected and very satisfying plot twists.

From a young age, Barbi clearly had a penchant for teaching, often guiding playmates in games and projects. As she grew older, her passion for education became increasingly obvious, including teaching her Turkish grandmother to read English. When it came time for Barbi to think about a profession, it was clear that teaching was her niche and Lesley was the place to follow her dream. “Enthusiasm seemed to carry the day and I was granted admission,” recalls Barbi of her Lesley interview.

To read more about Barbi's story and learn how she became an entrepreneur and business owner while following her passion, click here.
