Wyland Currents

New Release: Pipeline

A brilliant shimmering day at Hawaii's famed Pipeline is the subject of this powerful collaboration between Wyland and Steven Power, one of Hawaii's most popular painters of highly realistic fantasy landscapes and seascapes. Where Power's rolling wave crashes against the surface of the ocean, Wyland demonstrates his unique ability to portray the serene world of a coral reef below.

In "Pipeline," Wyland brings us up close with a green sea turtle blissfully indifferent to the thundering surf nearby. "The world of Pipeline is dramatic and exciting," Wyland says. "but many people don't realize that just below all that activity is a world of fascinating sea life. This painting tells a great story about the different ways we look at the world around us."

Wyland Florida Keys Mural Restorations

Oct 12-14: Key Largo  |  Oct 16-17: Marathon
Oct 18-21: Key West

Wyland has returned to the Florida Keys to restore the iconic marine life murals he created for local communities over the past two decades. The community service project is underwritten by Wyland Galleries of Key West, which is hosting a series of Wyland Art Exhibitions, appearances by the Wyland Clean Water Mobile Learning Experience, and mural painting activities for children, grades K-8, from local communities.

"These murals were created as a public reminder for millions of people about the importance of protecting the natural resources off the Florida coast," says Wyland. "Our goal is not only to restore their beauty, but to create a series of celebrations to thank everyone in the keys for their ongoing commitment to conservation."

Events are open to the entire community.

Blues Planet: Sounds

We are excited to announce that Blues Planet: Sounds, the first film in a three-part documentary series, has been honored as a winner of the 2012 Blue Ocean Film Festival in Monterey, CA. This documentary was also featured at the Hawaii International Film Festival last night in Honolulu, HI.

Blues Planet is a powerful, new documentary film series by Wyland, narrated by Dr. Sylvia Earle, featuring spectacular video/film footage. The documentaries include interviews with some of the most prominent environmentalists of our day with an emphasis on the voices, music, and imagery that capture the state of our environment. It is Wyland's effort to put a spotlight on the people and groups who are working to improve the health of our planet.
