Greetings from Tom, Alina and Thibaut at 2hD Architects!

View of our low energy house in Maplebeck

Projects on site

We’ve seen a number of our residential designs leaping off the drawing board and into the building process, including our remodelling projects for a 1920s house in the UK and a lakeside dwelling in Norway. A six-year labour of love, the self-build barn in France is looking gorgeous and has won our clients self-builder of the year 2012 award. Our low energy house design in a Nottinghamshire village reached completion recently, a superbly crafted build with excellent eco credentials, realised in a sensitive village setting…
Bird view of the Aalto Campus site

Nordic adventures

The Norwegian office goes from strength to strength, moving into a new shared office space in downtown Oslo, where we have collaborated with Various Architects on a competition entry for the Aalto University campus in Finland. At the other end of the scale, we’ve been commissioned for a number of residential and commercial developments including a lovely mountain cabin project. Norway certainly has sites to die for...
Qubo Gas are collaborating artists on our Ooo-Ya-Tsu project

More collaborations with artists

Our work with artist Marcus Rowlands on the Lost Cuckoo project has continued, resulting in an article in Mailout.co magazine on ‘holding a creative space’ and two workshops at Nottingham Trent University, furthering our cardboard module experiments. Meanwhile a new collaboration with French artists’ collective Qubo Gas and percussionist Olivier Durteste has kicked off with a year-long artist residency at L’Aéronef music venue in Lille, Thibaut's home city in France...
Neighbourhood Design Vision for Sneinton

2hD in the community

Tom continues to teach at Nottingham Trent University and is a director of Sneinton Alchemy, a community interest company serving 2hD’s home neighbourhood. The Sneinton Neighbourhood Design Vision Project was an excellent vehicle to bring NTU and Alchemy together, with student designs for the area produced in collaboration with locals to create a grass-roots vision for the future. Thibaut has also been getting involved in the local culture, entering the Downhill Kick Sled World Championship in Hurdal, Norway!
