SWU students spend fall break at Chicago ministry

Southern Wesleyan students and a recent SWU graduate spent their fall break in the Windy City with 2004 SWU grad and JUSTembrace organizer Sherilyn Sheets. They helped JUSTembrace throw their second annual Fall Festival while learning about reaching out to the community. “We literally did life together for a week,” said Sheets. “I am honored to be getting to know these uniquely wonderful people and to see how God is shaping and molding their young and passionate hearts.” The focus of JUSTembrace is to create healing for an inner-city Chicago community. Pictured at the Cloud Gate sculpture in Chicago’s Millennium Park are Ethan Austin, 2000 SWU religion graduate and JUSTembrace staffer Jennifer “Jiggs” Moore, Austin Johns-Paradise, recent graduate Ethan Cashwell and Rebecca Borders. Learn more about this outreach at www.justembrace.org.

Prospective students and their families interacted with Southern Wesleyan University faculty and staff during Preview Day this past Friday at The Founders. The Admissions Department registered 112 people for the Oct. 19 Preview Day. Participants also enjoyed refreshments and heard from President Voss. They attended breakout sessions, played icebreaker games and toured the campus in Central. For details about upcoming Preview Days and other events, go online to www.swu.edu/visit.
