Circle Modern Dance hopes you have been enjoying your fall so far! We have been on a roll with classes, Modern Dance Primitive Light rehearsals, performances at A1 Arts and on Market Square for BHAC Community Day, planning our upcoming November Fundraiser ball, and gearing up for an exciting weekend of workshops with Mark Lamb! We look forward to seeing you at any of these events.
Mark Lamb Dance Workshop 10/12 & 10/14
Our founding director Mark Lamb will be visiting Knoxville next weekend and will be presenting a pair of fun dance workshops suitable for all ages and abilities.
Friday, Oct. 12: CONTACT IMPROVISATION
A dance technique in which points of physical contact provide the starting point for exploration through movement improvisation. During this class we will explore kinetic awareness of our bodies in space, alone and with a partner, and develop basic skills through light touch, weight sharing, and exploring a greater sense of play. 6:30 pm—8:00 pm
Sunday, Oct. 14: INSIDE OUT, MOVING IN THE MOMENT
An exploration of ways to generate movement in the moment, along with improvising text and personal story. Together we will explore the possibilities of movement invention while moving non-judgmentally and with a deep sense of play. The Mark Lamb Dance method asks that its participants remember key and telling experiences from their own lives. Dance, storytelling, and conversation all co-mingle. 1:00 pm—4:00 pm
ALL ARE WELCOME !
Registration (available through Paypal or at our classes):
Friday & Sunday $35 in advance / $45 at the door
Or Friday only: $15 / $20 Sunday only $30 / $35
