Welcome to our November newsletter - this year seems to be flying by - Halloween and Bonfire night have been and gone, the clocks have gone back and soon the festive period will be upon us! But before it is please take a few minutes to read all our latest news...

Our projects and services...

Glasgow West Community Map: our Community Map is now live and the response since we had the launch has been brilliant. There are now over 100 sites posted on the map and we are keen to work with more local partners to further develop the map. You can find out more about the map on our website and if you want to get involved then please get in touch! And please let us know what you think about the map!

Community Placemaking events: many thanks to everyone that turned out for our two Community Placemaking events at Peterson Park and Whiteinch. Both events went really well with lots of good ideas generated. We are currently finalising the event report with greenspace scotland. Watch out for more news in the coming weeks!

North Clyde Recycling Centre: the planning applications for Rothesay Dock and Shieldhall have still not gone to committee. You can still submit objections to the proposed development at Rothesay Dock. More info including template objection letters can be found here. You can also sign an online petition against the development at Polmadie too.

European Week for Waste Reduction: next week sees the 4th European Week for Waste Reduction which aims to encourage businesses, educational establishments, voluntary organisations, charities and retailers to make a change to everyday behaviour to reduce the amount of waste produced, particularly food waste. And don't forget our 5 easy steps to slim your bin to help you on your waste reduction journey!

Climate Week 2013: this event will take place from 4-10 March 2013 - so get your thinknig caps on as to what you can do as part fo this week. We will be back in toch with details of our events! In the meantime check out the website for ways you can get involved!

Yoker Ferry Road: funding success - good news - we have been awarded funding from the Council's award winning stalled spaces programme and also Action Earth to improve a small site on Yoker Ferry Road. We are working on this project in partnership with Yoker Community Council and others. If you want to volunteer to help then please get in touch.

Glasgow Local Food Network online map: check out the online map of community based food growing projects across the city.

Better Buses report: the Better Buses campaign, run by Patrick Harvie MSP, has produced a useful and informative report based on it's findings

New litter strategy: the Scottish Government has launched ambitious plans to Clean Up Scotland in the run up to high profile international events in 2014 including the Commonwealth Games. And Keep Scotland Beautiful, who coordinate the National Spring Clean, are looking for 1 million people to take part!

The Gallus Games: If you can’t run the 200 metres or throw a javelin, how can you take part in the 2014 Commonwealth Games? Maybe the fantastic idea of the Gallus Games can help out!

Glasgow Credit Union win UK award: this week Glasgow Credit Union won the Innovation award for their consilidated loan product at the Social Enterprise UK annual awards.

Affordable Warnth Dividend: a scheme operated by Glasgow City Council to assist city residents who are 80 years and older. It runs from 1 November 2012 to 31 March 2012.

Drumchapel LIFE Green Gym: the Green Gym are on the look out for people keen to become Green Gym leaders.

Universal Home Insulation Scheme: this scheme covers all of Glasgow and can include having loft installation installed in top floor tenement flats.
