2012-2013 Artist-In-Residence: Benny Kim

We are very excited to host violinist Benny Kim as our 2012-2013 Des Moines Symphony Academy Artist-In-Residence. In addition to playing with the Des Moines Symphony Oct 27 & 28, Mr. Kim will participate in the following educational activities during his visit to Des Moines.

Fine Arts Center, Drake University
FREE and open to the public

Mr. Kim will work with the Valley High School Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra musicians.

Ray Songayllo recognized by Iowa Composers Forum

The Iowa Composers Forum has recognized pianist and Symphony Academy faculty member Ray Songayllo at its annual festival on Oct 5-6, 2012 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.  At this festival, Ray premiered his piano work, Two Legends. Congratulations, Ray!

Bryant Park String Quartet

Next week, the Bryant Park String Quartet will coach the Des Moines Symphony Youth Orchestras. In addition, the group performs a free concert at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Des Moines Art Center.
