TryTone Newsletter - November 2012

Since 1998, TryTone has been regularly organizing concerts in Zaal 100. The last six years, the series was curated and organized by Marcos Baggiani.
During the years, more than 750 sets have been played! Lots of bands staged their first concert there, and many of them kept coming back. Also internationally, the series became very well known among musicians. The evening on november 21st will be the last of its kind.
TryTone will continue its activities. The record label is alive and kicking. There is a new group of artistic leaders. TryTone will continue to organize concerts, also at Zaal 100, curated and organized by various musicians.

Thank you all for your support!

 21:00  The royal improvisers orchestra

Sandra Pujols: voice; Felicity Provan: trumpet; Ab Baars and Yedo Gibson: saxs & clarinets; Nora Mulder: cymbalon; JoseGomes: baroque bassoon; James Hewitt: baroque violin; Harald Austbø: cello; Oscar Jan Hoogland: piano; Ofir Klemperer: computer; Angel Faraldo: no input mixer; Mikael Szafirowski: guitar; Marcos Baggiani: drums.
If the new Amsterdam's Tumult has a flagship it must be (in size alone) the 14-piece Royal Improvisers Orchestra (RIO). The orchestra, founded by the Amsterdam based Brazilian saxophonist Yedo Gibson has different types of expertise and voices from a diversity of cultures and various genres including baroque music, punk rock, jazz and electronics. This is an extraordinary feat for such a large ensemble, since RIO makes clever use of contrasts: electronics in combination with ancient instruments (baroque winds and strings), jazz as well as rock elements, huge variations in dynamics (from deafeningly loud to an almost imperceptible whisper). Everything is possible when RIO starts, just like a huge birds tsunami!! www.tumultmusic.com
