Living with a roommate

Hey residents,

The school year has started and midterms are here.  You are probably stressed from the many things getting thrown your way.  One of those things that might seem hard to handle is living with a roommate.  If you are living on campus, you might be having some roommate issues especially if this is your first time living with someone else in a room.  There is no need to panic; here are a couple of things to do to help your relationship:

  • Talk it out
  • Write it out
  • Talk to a staff member in your residence hall
  • Have a mutual friend help
  • Find out why you both wanted a roommate in the first place

If you do some of these things you most likely will be able to resolve most of the issues with your roommate.  Please know that this could take a long time to iron out, so both of you need to be invested in the process if you want it to work out.

Sincerely,

Franklin Soares
Resident Director, Sackett Hall

In wake of Sandy, Red Cross seeks blood donations

The Red Cross is requesting your help. As of Oct. 30, the October Storm/Sandy has forced the cancellation of approximately 300 American Red Cross blood drives in 14 states along the East Coast, resulting in a shortfall of nearly 9,000 units of blood and platelets thus far.

The Red Cross will move blood products to affected areas as necessary.  If people make an appointment to donate blood in the upcoming days and weeks ahead, blood will be available in the aftermath should conditions prohibit people in some parts of the country from traveling or coming to blood drives

Please consider participating in the Nov. 5-9 OSU Campus Blood Drive which is a part of the Statewide Civil War Blood Drive.  The drive is at the Memorial Union Ballroom Monday, Nov. 5, through Thursday, Nov. 8 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday, Nov. 9, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 1165 N.W. Monroe Ave.

For more information or to sign up call 503-779-1266 or go online to www.redcrossblood.org, (Sponsor code: OSU).   Contact the Blood Drive Association for volunteer information: osublooddrive@yahoo.com
