Tickets are now on sale at the MacLaren for the Off the Hook Silent Art Auction! This perennial favourite is Friday, November 16, with the preview beginning November 10. Over 130 artworks by more than 120 artists will fill the galleries, and all are available for you to take home with a winning bid.

It's never too early to make a plan for the school holidays! Registration is now open for our winter break camps for kids 3 to 10 years of age! The MacLaren offers art classes for children, youth and adults taught by professional artists. For more information and to register online click here...

The MacLaren's annual Silent Art Auction, Off the Hook, returns for its 22nd year, featuring over 130 works of art by more than 120 artists and Great Finds from local shops and businesses. This annual fundraiser offers everyone the opportunity to bid on and take home an original artwork. Enjoy hors d'oeuvres and desserts by some of Barrie's finest chefs. Cash bar. The Sovfoto Archive at the MacLaren is comprised of 23,000 vintage photographs formerly kept at the Sovfoto Agency in New York, the international outlet for official press photography of the Soviet Union. Soviet-born Canadian artist Leopold Plotek has selected photographs of artists filed in this propagandist image bank, including venerated figures such as author Maxim Gorky, poet Anna Akhmatova and composer Dmitri Shostakovich. In the Spotlight:
Volunteer Kim Kieller
President, MacLaren Board of Directors


Kim Kieller has been a dedicated member of the MacLaren Board for five years, serving twice as Board President! This past June, Kim was honoured with a five-year pin in recognition of her outstanding service to the MacLaren. Now with Barriston Law, Kim has practised family law since 1986. Kim is also an elected member of the Ontario Association of Family Mediators and a member of the ADR Institute of Canada. She is certified in both general and family law arbitration and her current focus is on negotiation, counsel, mediation and arbitration work.

Kim is married and a parent of two boys, Matt and Christian, and has been an active member of her community, serving on the Board of the Women's and Children's Crisis Centre (as it was then known) and the M.S. Society of Simcoe County, among many others.

Thank you, Kim, for your generosity, leadership and commitment to the MacLaren and the Board of Directors.
