We've been hard at work adding useful functionality to SimpleMDM. One common feature request has been to add the ability to install Enterprise and Apple App Store apps to enrolled devices OTA. As of today, we're proud to say that we officially support this.
The usage of this feature is straightforward. In the Settings section, there is now an "Apps" tab. It looks like this:
From here, you can:
1) See a listing of apps currently in your "store"
2) Upload an enterprise app
3) Add an Apple Store app
Uploading an enterprise app only requires one step. You are asked to name the app and to select the IPA file on your computer. You can then upload the app.
Adding an Apple Store app is slightly different. The interface provides the ability to search the Apple Store and then select an app from the results.
Once apps have been added in the Apps section of Settings, they can be assigned to groups of devices, just as Wireless Networks can. iOS does not allow us to force apps to install, rather, we have to prompt the user for approval. Because of this, we "Push" apps once we're ready to send out installation notices. Uninstalling apps does not require approval, so "Push" will automatically remove recently unchecked apps.
