Marin Kayak and Canoe Club Paddle
Sunday, Nov. 11 at 9:30 am, meet at the boat launch at McInnis Park, 310 Smith Rd. David Fitzgerald will lead a leisurely 5 mile paddle to Santa Margarita Island and back. The tide will be with us. We will lunch on the island or back at McInnis. Bring a lunch or potluck dish to share. This should be an easy paddle suitable for all abilities.

Extra Time?
We can use your help, even if it is just for an hour or two. We have a list of specific tasks needed to create a fantastic event at the Bay Model (see sidebar to right). Call Sue at 948-1295 or Joyce at 499-1477. We will fit the job to your time and skills. Any help is much appreciated. We are also looking for donations of food for the reception and greeters for that day.

SMART Blunders in the Marsh
Watchful Watershed eyes found multiple missteps when SMART contractor crews began dismantling the tracks last month. Calls to agencies with oversight on the project revealed the work had proceeded without appropriate permits and without proper precautions or Best Management Practices (BMPs) in place to protect the marsh, home to Clapper Rail and Salt Marsh Harvest Mouse. GWC applauds the work of nearby residents who brought this situation to light. Endangered species need all the help and protection they can get.

Next GWC Board Meetings
