Announcing Pomegranate Audience Award

Across 25 days and five capital cities, the Iranian Film Festival Australia has completed its highly successful second year. We visited Brisbane, Canberra and Adelaide, and for the first time, Melbourne and Sydney.

Our aim is to showcase a diverse range of the best and most interesting films and through cinema, introduce Iranian culture to other Australians, proving better cultural understanding and tolerance.
We are overwhelmed by the responses we have received from you, the audience, and it gives us the motivation to keep showcasing the best of Iranian film in Australia.

Thank you. We look forward to seeing you all again in 2013. Watch out for the new dates.

And the Pomegranate Audience Award goes to….

You voted the award-winning Facing Mirrors as your favourite film. Facing Mirrors, the debut feature of Negar Azerbaijani and starring Shayesteh Irani, broke new ground as the first fictional Iranian feature about transgender issues. It released in Iran on 24 October 2012.
