Last Call 2012

We need your help!

Airport Soccer Complex
On Monday Dec. 17, 2012 the San Rafael City Council will vote on the proposed airport soccer complex. We ask that you be there to bear witness to the discussion and the vote and let the city know how many of us care about the watershed. They have put this item at the middle of their agenda. Arriving at 7:30 should be about right. We thank each and every person and organization who have spoken out against and lobbied and submitted excellent letters in opposition. So many of you have been fighting this insensitive proposal for years--we salute you.

King Tides
The extreme high tides this past week were startling and gave an excellent indication of what we'll be seeing in the future with sea level rise. Think we should do something about it? We are working on a watershed plan for our area which would address sea level rise, flooding, creek restoration, protection and enhancement along with recommendations for future planning. Have any cool photos of these high tides? Please post them on our Facebook page! Additional photos from around the state can be viewed at the California King Tides Photo Initiative.

Support GWC
GWC relies upon the support of the community to do its work. You can help in several ways:
*Join us--there IS power in numbers! Having more members also makes us more attractive to grant funders.
*Tell your neighbors and friends about us and invite them to sign up. We could double our numbers!
*Donate your time--we can always use help with creek clean ups, research, cookies....Your participation is welcome and most desired.
*Donate your cash--it's the end of the year--do you need a tax deduction? By giving to GWC via MarinLink your donation is fully tax deductible. We make use of every cent.

Happy Holidays! See you in 2013!

7 Foot plus King Tide floods McInnis field.
While not yet overtopping the levees, the tidal water has pushed up through the low lying ground creating a brackish inland sea. There was no rain that day or for several days before.
