The Kinyiba Girls School Well

DIGDEEP often builds water projects at schools, but the Kinyiba well is different.

This project has a special human rights focus, providing clean water to a school for girls abandoned or orphaned during the Sudanese Civil War.
Kinyiba Primary School for Girls is the only institution of its kind in the country.

By drilling a borehole here, DIGDEEP recognizes the rights of a group consistently marginalized. The girls at Kinyiba will no longer miss lessons due to time spent waiting to draw water from another community's well. More importantly, they'll escape the taunting of local boys, which presents a unique problem for teachers here.

Worldwide, over 433 million school days are lost each year to water-related concerns. It's a trend we can help reverse.

Thank you so much for your incredible gift. We all have a human right to water. DIGDEEP

"I am one of the volunteer female teachers in this school, and my name is Jokudu Robina. I was born in Adjumani - a Ugandan district in the North - when my parents fled as refugees during the war. I’m 18.

Our girls face great challenges when collecting water from the community borehole one kilometer from the school. In addition to congestion around the well, village boys disturb and harass the girls, making them late for afternoon lessons and worse.

The drilling of a borehole on the school premises will greatly improve the situation of our pupils and their performance. Thank you so much!"
