Update January 2013~Back in the Wild Wild East

We Are Back in Cambodia

January 2013

We had a great time in Canada. It was very good to see our family again and to reconnect with friends.

It was cold while we were there (-20 to -30 Celsius) but that added to the experience for Makara. When she first stepped out of the airport in Edmonton she gave out a shocked gasp at the first feel of the cold. I was happy to see snow again. It really is beautiful to see, especially on the trees.

While we were away our school continued to run by the Cambodian staff. They had a great Christmas party where around 100 people attended. The kids sang songs and received shoe-box gifts from Samaritan's Purse. Their parents attended and they all shared a meal together.

We are gearing up for 2013. Now that the school has been running for three months, and hasn't fallen apart, this year will be all about making it better and better. This will be a year of education for Makara and myself as we learn to make the school better, learn to work with the community around us more effectively, and learn to meet the government standards (and go beyond) for education in Cambodia.

Check out the pictures below. The first group are of Makara, Noah, and me in Canada. The second group are of the school Christmas party. (Click on the photo to see a larger version)

Have a great 2013!
