Khronos Group Invites you to our first-ever DevU for educators

Khronos DevU for Educators

Saturday, December 1st

Time: 10:00 - 18:00
SIGGRAPH Asia 2012
Singapore EXPO - Conference Hall K

The Khronos Group invites you to our first-ever KITE event geared towards educators. While our DevU events in the past have been successful at helping developers get familiar with our APIs, at EducatorU our goal will be to provide you with the insight and understanding you need in order to include our technologies in your teaching curriculum. Including this cutting-edge material in your classes will give your graduating students an edge – the same skills and proficiencies the industry's recruiters are looking for in new engineers.

The Khronos technologies will be taught by leading technology experts from our member companies. They'll be speaking from a wealth of experience not only using Khronos technologies, but also developing and creating them. These are the skills the engineers of tomorrow need today, and there is no better source for this information than EducatorU.

We won't just be talking chips and code. The KITE program is Khronos's way of promoting communication between the different parts of the tech world, and we're excited to get educators involved in the conversation. EducatorU is your way in – expect to find more about KITE, and how educators elsewhere are using the program to their advantage.

We hope to see you on Dec. 1st at SIGGRAPH Asia for a day of learning technology. For more information visit www.khronos.org.

You are invited to attend our 13th annual, invitation only, press luncheon at SIGGRAPH in Singapore, 30 November, 2012 at 11:30AM at the Capri Fraser Hotel  (3 Changi Business Park Central 1). You can see our event page and RSVP HERE, We would love for you to join us for lunch and our discussion on:

"THE DEMOCRATIZATION OF 3D - 3D for the people"

3D content is magical and people love it, but everyone knows 3D content is also hard to create and the tools are too expensive for most people. That's no longer true. There is a growing army of young artists and hobbyists who are creating their own content for fun and for professional opportunity. New educational prices for software and low cost software are creating opportunities for people who love 3D. In addition, we are seeing new approaches to creating 3D content.

Among the topics that will be covered in this session are:
  • Who are the people creating 3D content?
  • What products are they using?
  • Are they getting jobs?
  • How does this trend for more people creating 3D change the content creation industry
  • Can modern computers handle the demands of 3D modeling and animation? What about tablets?
