Plea for transition funding for Devon, Torbay and Plymouth

The Heart of the South West (HotSW) LEP visited Westminster last week to lobby for Transition Funding.

HotSW delivered the plea to Downing Street and held a series of briefings with MPs, to build support for jobs and growth in Devon, Plymouth and Torbay.

A Transition Zone classification would mean a share in £2.6 billion of EU funding.

The funds would be targetted at the most important local priorities, which could have huge economic and growth potential.

The visit was arranged as part of the LEP commitment to a fairer share of EU funds - to find out more click here.

£100k fund launched to increase value of woodlands and trees

An exciting £100k package of business support opportunities that could increase the value of the South West forestry and timber industry is being offered to businesses through the SW Timber Business Development Programme.

HotSW is working with the Woodland Renaissance Partnership and the Forestry Commission to help businesses make better use of the region’s large area of underutilised and under managed woodlands.

LEP calls for Government flooding assistance

HotSW is pressing its case for emergency funding following the recent extreme weather conditions.

We have renewed the call for urgent Government assistance after flooding closed most rail services and caused significant damage to rail infrastructure throughout the area.

In a letter to Transport Minister Norman Baker we have highlighted the serious economic cost the flooding will have upon businesses and communities.
