11th EBAN Winter University

The 11th EBAN Winter University is right around the corner

The Winter University (WU) is around the corner and EBAN anticipates an exciting event at Istanbul Commerce University starting from Thursday with the EBAN Workshops and lasting until Friday, when the WU Conference will take place. A record of participation is expected for the event with the WU attracting early stage market players from 17 different countries. As foreseen, the local community has expressed their interest for the debates and we expect this to be a shifting moment for Turkey's early stage investment ecosystem that will certainly leverage the recently approved record-breaking tax credit of 75% for investment up to €500k.

Due to the high number of registrations, both recommended hotels (Central Palace and Lamartine) are fully booked. Last minute participants should seek accommodation near these two hotels for ease of transportation to and from the venues. A practical Welcome Package for participants can be found in the following link.

Key facts for the Winter University:
200 registered participants from 21 countries
42 speakers
5 workshops
7 Shared Deals presenting companies

We invite you to visit the event website and prepare your attendance or simply to explore the current market hot-topics and learn about who is leading the debates. As previously announced the EBAN WU will focus in Exits but additional and complementary topics will turn the event into a diversified discussion forum with multiple actors and perspectives. Printable versions of the agenda, workshops and speakers' lists are now available to download.

Message from the President

Dear Friends,

We are most pleased to welcome more than 200 participants in Istanbul for the 11th EBAN Winter University.

The theme of the Winter University - "Improving Exits for Successful Investments" — is something which all of us, early-stage investors must do if we are to continue our activities and obtain sustainable innovation and growth. At the WU, we will learn and share best practices, not only about exiting, but also about other important topics for the Early Stage Investor community.

As one of the most dynamic economies in Europe and the world, it will be interesting to see the opportunities that Turkey is opening to the European Early Stage Investors community.

Of course, the success of this event is only possible due to our sponsors and partners. A special thanks to our hosting partner TBAA - Business Angels Association Turkey.

As this is the first Flash edition of 2013, I would like to mention that EBAN ended 2012 with a net growth of 10% of its members over 2011. In particular, I am pleased that we have a new record of 28 countries being represented in the membership. Thank you for all of your support and initiative.

Looking forward for 2013, EBAN will continue working with our members and all stakeholders of the innovation and entrepreneurial eco-system to improve the framework for early-stage investment via co-investment schemes, tax breaks, incentives, best practices sharing, etc. so as to give a strong contribution to the expansion and improvement of the Early Stage community in Europe. As always, we welcome all of your suggestions and ideas.

Wishing you a great 2013 and looking forward to meeting many of you in Istanbul!

Regards,

Paulo Andrez
EBAN, President

P.S. For those who love 007 films, the venue of the WU is just 100 meters away from the area where the opening scenes of the latest 007 Sky Fall were shot... Get ready for action!
