6 Funding Hints and Tips for 2013

Below are 6 tips from Funding 4 Sport that we hope will help you in 2013.

To view these see below;·
  1. Check how much funding organisations have given out this ‘financial year’ and whether they are underspent or not. Most organisations work a financial year basis from April to March, which means if they are currently underspent your chances of getting funding from these organisations is greatly increased if you can submit a good, justifiable application in the next three months·
  2. Take time to understand the funding jargon on funding application forms. Think of these questions as being similar to you would find on a job application. If you do not understand them and don’t find out what they mean, you may end up answering them wrong, which means no marks for that question equalling no funding!!·
  3. Don’t think of your funding need as COMPETING against all other clubs and other organisations out there looking for funds – learn from how they’ve done it. Read case studies and LEARN what they got money for, why and how much.·
  4. See what funding has been granted in your area through the Big Lottery’s funding search of grants awarded; http://www.lottery.culture.gov.uk/Search.aspx
  5. Use ACTIVE and POSITIVE phraseology when writing bids. Use Buzz Words as Certain words and phrases are useful at getting across what funders wish to hear
  6. Set up a google news alert (http://www.google.com/alerts) on ‘sports funding’ and get the latest news direct to your inbox!
