Bush Telegraph - Kicheche Camps
Which one do you fancy?
The middle weeks of January are said to be the most depressing of the year, with good reason. Perhaps a combination of the BBC's Africa series and this newsletter will banish these blues. Kicheche has always been a community, a community of staff and guests so a big thank you to both parties who contributed to this.

The rains have leavened the plains and escarpments of both the Mara and Laikipia, the vehicles have dwindled a little since Christmas, the guides are tightening the axle bolts and shocks for another game drive, just one thing missing .... you.

Oh just in case you think this is some smug corporate message and we can't be bothered to do 'Spot' for a week, here's a gem for you:  we promised no leopards for a while but Acacia ... yes, that one, the one we said was pregnant ( click
) has had cubs, no-one has seen them but they have seen mum's teats which indicate newborn.  No reason to be intoxicated by this: tiny leopard balls of fluff, in the Conservancy Close not Reserve estate; you'll virtually have her to yourself ... enough, this is huge, this is Neil Armstrong's first steps or even Lance Armstrong's first dubious steps to redemption... enjoy the Newsletter !

Babies, cubs, kittens, whatever got into those mother's ?(Don't answer that!), Never before have we had so many and there are plenty of fat mums wandering around with that pregnant gait. Kindergarten is open .... just one thing missing .... you.   more

" The mega-highlight at Kicheche Valley was a very obliging Aardvark. Wow!"  Mike Mockler (UK)

"Kicheche tents are right out of a 1920’s Bedouin movie. Lawrence of Arabia had nothing on this group! Lux linens and fresh coffee/tea wake-up calls are just some of the small perks…." AD Bridge (USA)

"I could not imagine, nor dream it better !"   Su & Wink Verhoeven (UK) , Kicheche Mara Camp  more testimonials

It's a dog's life

Mike Mockler is no stranger to wild dogs and an accomplished photographer and guide. He is also long-standing friends of Andy and Sonja in Laikipia, so with a visit to our Northern flagship he kills two birds (dogs?) with one stone...read more
Fancy a spot of lunch, deer?

Lin and Martin Chapman were on day 2 of their fifth safari to Kicheche Laikipia since 2009. A peckish Martin asked Lin about lunch, just before this sensational sequence burst.....see more
Go buy the book

Kicheche started this initiative last summer as part of the Aitong Youth and Adult Centre. This is a reminder when packing your bags to throw in a book be it new, second hand or soft backed preferably with pictures.

Our eager readers ( 8 to 28 yrs old) would love Natural History book from anywhere in the world, an atlas, guide book, reference book, children’s book – anything that is educational and concerns the natural world.

If you don't have room in your travel bags, you can post to Kicheche Camps P.O Box 15236, Nairobi 00509 or alternatively  donate funds though the trust as detailed here

Thank you to all those many guests who have sent their outstanding offerings over the past few months. The best image of the year will win a free long week-end at the camp of their choice. Hope you enjoy them, fun to look at but better to be there, again only one thing missing .... you know the rest.
