A little past
A little future
All now....

The beginning of something Reallygoods

The past year was spent setting up the Reallygoods manufacturing facility in Nashotah, WI. We found a great spot at the end of a multi-tenant building on a quiet street lined with giant evergreens. Lovely windows show us the rain and snow, the sunshine and sometimes the moonrise. We're fortunate to have a helpful and very kind landlord as well as creative, friendly and fun business neighbors.

Our small space produces all the Reallygoods made in the whole world! Besides the sanitary and shiny factory, there is also a comfortable office and shipping area. It's all inhabited by two people; us, Stephen and Chris. We wear all the hats; CEO, CFO, Marketing Managers, Head Custodians, Orderers, Decision Makers and of course, the Reallygoods Makers.

We hope you enjoy this first issue of Reallygoods News and continue to enjoy eating a few Reallygoods here and there.....and EVERYWHERE!!

Here's to the crunch,
Chris and Stephen

The Village of Nashotah (which means Twin Lakes) was incorporated in 1957 and has a population of 1387.  Prior to that, Nashotah was an unincorporated part of the Town of Delafield and was a popular destination for train travelers.

The train station, was originally known as the Pine Lake Station but in 1875 was changed to the Nashotah Station. Unfortunately the train doesn't stop in Nashotah any longer, but probably a good thing....with our love of train travel, we may have hopped on board much too often!

Nashotah is home to the Red Circle Inn which is the oldest restaurant in Wisconsin. There is also a nice casual place, The Picnic Basket, which is a fun place for lunch if you ever come and visit us!! Yes, you can come visit and purchase some Reallygoods, but we're not here at all times, so it would be best to phone or email first!

As long as we're at the "beginnings", lets take a look at our #1 ingredient - bananas. We only buy Organic Fair Trade bananas. The ones we've been using come from Cerro Azul from the El Progresso region of Southeastern Ecuador. The fully organic cooperative has over 100 farmers and on almost 1000 acres. Fair Trade empowers farmers and farm workers to lift themselves out of poverty by developing the business skills necessary to compete in the global marketplace. In addition to fair prices, the growers and farm workers gain fair labor conditions and many benefits to their communities that otherwise would not occur, such as: health care, running water, bathrooms and new schools.
