January Newsletter
With the holiday season coming to a close, our minds have moved towards celebrating the New Year and, with our holiday gift knitting out of the way (hopefully!), being able to knit for ourselves again. We hope that the Colorado winter, snowy and beautiful, continues to inspire you to keep warm with handmade knits. We have some wonderful classes, sales, and new finds this month that we hope will help you to welcome 2013. |

Featured Yarn- Fleece Artist
Our newest obsession at MSK is Fleece Artist yarn. We first fell in love when Dawn made Churchmouse's Wooly Wreath and Garland with Fleece Artist's Slubby Blue. Then, Danielle made the Mara in their Blue Face Aran for everyone in her family for Christmas. Both of these yarns are made of wool from a breed of sheep called Blue Faced Leicester and we just love knitting with it. The next project in my queue is Quince and Co.'s Avery with Blue Face Aran in plum. We also have a third yarn from Fleece Artist called Tosca, a bulky merino wool/ nylon blend that is our Deal of the Day on January 9th.
You have to come by the shop to squeeze these yarns. We know that you will fall in love too. |

Our Favorite Winter Project- The Seasons Hat Kit
Nothing says winter like a fair isle hat and Jared Flood's Seasons Hat is our favorite. We have it in the shop made up in Isager Alpaca 2, a 50/50 blend of merino wool and alpaca. This yarn is a perfect choice for fingering weight fair isle projects because of their beautiful colors. The pattern calls for five colors, but you really only need about 1/4- 1/2 of a skein of each color to make the beanie version of the hat. Instead of needing to buy 5 whole skeins to complete the project, we will be creating kits for you that will include the pattern and just enough yarn to make the hat for $27. This way, you only have to pay for the amount of yarn that you need! |

Community Knit Night
Every Tuesday evening, the shop stays open until 8pm to host an open knitting night. Come by to ask for help with your project, get opinions about color combinations, or just to meet other crafty people like yourself. We always like to see your works in progress and visit with a warm cup of tea. |

Becoming Van Gogh at the Denver Art Museum
The Denver Art Museum is hosting the Becoming Van Gogh exhibit until January 20th. This informative exhibit "brings together loans from more than 60 public and private collections throughout Europe and North America to tell the story of a number of key formative periods throughout the artist’s career." Be sure not to miss this event because Denver is the only venue lucky enough to have it. |
