Dear CASLPA members,
 
This week, the cost of hearing aids made Canadian news. You may have heard the report that aired on CBC Radio Nova Scotia or read the CBC Manitoba article Hearing aid subsidies vary in Canada, fall short in Manitoba.

It has now come to our attention that tonight’s episode of CBC Marketplace will also address this issue. While we can't be sure how the story will be presented, from what we've heard, and from what we've seen on the Marketplace website, it looks like they will be focusing on the high costs for consumers to obtain hearing aids versus the relatively low cost of producing the technology. 

CASLPA is obviously concerned about the direction that these news stories seem to be taking. And, while it's unlikely that we'll have the opportunity to present our perspective before they air tonight's episode, we are working to ensure that the voice of our audiologist members is heard on this issue.
