HAPPY NEW YEAR!
It’s 2013, a brand new year, and a time for reflection and looking to the future to improve our overall well-being for both our personal lives and careers.
We are very excited to bring to all of our members the first  newsletter of the year. It is chock full of  club news from fitness tips to our café specials poolside. This monthly newsletter will be available to our members via email and on our website. Each newsletter, beginning with this issue, will have helpful articles, special discounts from our various in-house businesses and updates on all club based programs, all to keep you well informed. So, enjoy reading the first issue of the  South End Newsletter and yes, we would love to get your feedback on what you like so far and what you would like to have added.

SOUTH END JUNIOR TEAM TENNIS

South End’s Junior Team Tennis’ Coach, Susana Jalali, has for the last 6 years,  been working with kids ages 6 to 18 yrs. providing them with fun, competitive matches and drills for all levels: Novice, Satellite and Open.  Included in the mix are ranked USTA Jr. players who have been participating  in the league to improve their skills to compete in their USTA matches.

Practices are held every Saturday at South End from 3p – 5p in a competitive yet fun-filled environment which are followed by match day on Sundays against other South Bay clubs.

What’s New for the Year in Group X - 2013
 
So you may be wondering what the latest buzz in-group fitness is... Or how best to get LEAN in 2013! Along with all the fantastic stand-by workouts like ZUMBA, NIA, Step, Circuit, Sculpt, Ritmica, Pilates and Yoga.. Get excited because South End is GEARING up for a re-launch of their ever-popular Spin Classes. We will be bringing in the new Studio Cycles next month and plan to offer several South End Spinning classes in the AM and PM throughout the week. 

Here’s a few new things you can be looking forward to!
  • We are bringing back our Spinning program in February
  • We are adding new small group ‘Boot Camp’ sessions
  • We are shifting the schedule slightly to make more time for a few specialty Yoga slots.
  • We are adding a new evening NIA slot with Randy (4:30 Weds)

Urban Lair South End Pilates

is proud to welcome Erin Lutz to the instructor team. Erin is a Pilates instructor certified by the Pilates Sports Center in Encino, CA (PSC). She grew up in the South Bay and graduated from California State Long Beach in 2008. During February, Urban Lair is offering a discount of 10 percent on all Pilates Lessons (Privates, Semi Privates and Groups) on Wednesday and Weekends (Saturday and Sunday) with Erin.

We are thrilled to be part of this great club once again and look forward to serving you. Dr. Taylor has been practicing for 20 years and specializes in Pain Reduction and Nutrition. The complimentary ‘Health & Fitness Screening’ consists of:

  • A consultation regarding any health concerns you may have & appropriate recommendations
  • Blood pressure check
  • Body Fat analysis

This free evaluation will not only improve your health but will also maximize the benefit of your membership. There are three reasons to take advantage of this opportunity:

  1. If your screening shows a health problem that would improve with your membership, you will be given a prescription for your membership. This may make the membership a medical expense for tax purposes. (Please consult with your tax professional – CPA, EA, etc.)
  2. If you are found to have a health problem, the doctor will guide you to the appropriate referral (M.D., D.C., R.P.T.) or Certified Personal Trainer to best use our facility to improve your health.
  3. A ‘Seven Point Stress Test’ will be given to determine your stress levels. Dr. Taylor will make recommendations to lower your stress.

In addition to the screening, you will receive a complimentary:

  • ‘Stress Test’ Card (to help you check your stress levels)
  • 15 minute Hydrotherapy Massage
