Blast from the Past

January, 2010... April asks about how to make a crochet design submission, and I answer!
Look for more posts like this with the label "Become a Designer" on the right sidebar of the blog.
Business Tip For each company you do business with, have a template of form letters with their address ready. Submission letter, Enclosing the finished project letter, and invoice, should all be ready on file so you can tailor it and send it at a moment's notice. Give each company it's own folder on your computer.
Crochet Tip Keep empty yarn bands. Count how many skeins you used and mark it on your pattern. Staple an empty band to your pattern so you know exactly what you used in case you want to use it again.  If it was an AWESOME yarn, cut a 6" snippet of the yarn and tape it to the band for added in formation. Place the awesome yarn bands in a "My favorite yarns" file.
Design Tip When designing, do not mix yarns from different companies within one project. It will be much more difficult to "sell" if companies have to share the spotlight.
