Announcement on school sport imminent says minister
Education secretary Michael Gove is set to announce a boost in funding for school sport “
shortly” according to sports minister Hugh Robertson. While specific details on what is due to be announced are sketchy, Mr Robertson indicated that there will be an emphasis on the school curriculum and some funding will be allocated to allow coaches to come into schools. He also defended Mr Gove’s record on school sport by insisting that certain targets he has been accused of missing were unrealistic, writes
Tom Degun.

ECB The PCA Masters fundraising opportunity
The ECB has recently been working with the Professional Cricketers’ Association (PCA) to bring a new fundraising opportunity to cricket clubs.
The PCA Masters cricket team, consisting of ex-England and county players, are offering a limited number of clubs the chance to play them in a Twenty20 match at their ground. The clubs involved will have the potential to raise significant amounts of money as long as they are prepared to work hard.
There is a fee involved but with forward planning and dedication clubs can raise the money to cover this and also generate considerable profit for their own use.
