Museum Report
The Museum hosted 93 visitors in January, our highest January visitor count to date. Visitors included school groups, an AARP senior group, visitors from other states and from Canada. 

The Adventist Hospital exhibit preparation proceeds on schedule. In the Museum the restored baggage doors are hung and they look great. The windows are nearing completion, we are having an authentic faux finish applied. The original faux finish was discovered after the restorers got through a dozen layers of paint to the original finish. The Eagle Scouts built a fence across the back of the property. The fence improves privacy and makes the garden feel cozier.

Museum personnel receive ongoing training to foster excellence. Recent training includes a conservation conference, emergency planning, building codes, and new technologies in documenting historic buildings.

In 2013 the Museum plans to provide two or three rotating exhibits related to Castle Rock, and to work with the Town to enhance their meaning to the community. Exhibit production is dependent on the window work schedule. We want to make sure everything is securely installed before placing a new exhibit. This year the Museum would like to continue conservation and restoration on the Museum depot itself. We have started a grant match fund with a goal of $5000. 

Society Report
The February Membership Meeting featured Shaun Boyd, Douglas County Library Archivist. Shaun lead a lively discussion about women in Douglas County history. Women who outlasted multiple husbands and raised children on their own, women whose determination kept their families safe from the dangers of the wild west, and women whose courage and adventurous spirit made today's life possible for all of us! CRHS continues our organizational goals this year with creating an Employee Handbook. Our guest speaker at the February Board meeting was Deborah Brackney, Vice President at Mountain States Employers' Council. Deborah advised the Board on the contents of an Empolyee Handbook. A well-written handbook welcomes employees, talks about the employer's philosophy, and lets employees know what to expect from the employer.

CRHS is launching a year-long membership drive to increase both individual and corporate membership. We are proud to present Jerri Wheelhouse as our new Corporate Membership Chair.
