It's the fifth amazing Digital Opps newsletter!
Ooh its another newsletter from Digital Opps!

Want to learn more about  Digital Heritage? We can help you there!

This is a special edition of our newsletter to promote our new CPD course, Exploring Digital Heritage. Regular readers won't be surprised at all to learn that amongst many other things, this course will help you develop digital exhibits - making, using and testing them. If you want to make your own exhibits (and save money) you can't afford to miss it!

Whats on the course then?
Originally created as a CPD course with the University of Brighton, and run with organisations such as the Royal College of Music, Exploring Digital Heritage is designed specifically for those museum professionals who would like to create their own digital content - or who would like to raise their knoweldge of this area and would benefit from more information on the technologies, techniques and issues surrounding digital media.

This is an ideal way to increase knowledge and skills in the digital area, and will help students to make their own content - which is nearly alway cheaper than using agencies!

There are no technical entry requirements: participants need only a basic understanding of the web i.e. to have looked for information online and navigated through sites. The course has a wide brief, looking at all aspects of museums’ digital lives.

The main areas for study, discussion and hands-on activities are as follows:

- Museums and their visitors – and how digital can help them both
- Museum/gallery websites – good examples, and bad!
- Collections – how these play a crucial part in many museums
- On-site displays and interactives – exploring good practice and the differences between off- and online
- Digital AV – how to make it cheaply and effectively, and make the most of it
- How to commission digital media
- A wide range of case studies

All we ask is that you bring yourselves and a laptop.

The course runs on the 17th April 2013 in London. You can find out more details and book here.

And don't forget that Early Bird bookings receive a 10% discount!

Build it yourself!

As part of the course we give you advice on building your own digital exhibits.

Obviously we'd like you to use IGOR, our own digital exhibit platform, but you'll be under no pressure to do so. If you already know which software you'd like to use we can advice you on that just as well.

London too far?

If you're unable to get to London we can come to you.

As well as running the course regularly in London we can provide on-site training for museums. We just ask you to provide a room, projector and screen - and at least three participants.
