Bemidji State hosting Minnesota TRiO's 10th annual TRiO Day on Feb. 16
More than 400 high school and college students from across Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin will visit Bemidji State University on Feb. 16 for the Minnesota TRiO Association’s 10th annual TRiO Day. [read more]

MIDiots land gig at The Dakota
BSU's faculty electronic music ensemble, the MIDiots, has landed a gig at one of the Midwest’s premier jazz clubs. On Feb. 15, the group will follow Kansas City blues artist Kelley Hunt at The Dakota Jazz Club and Restaurant in Minneapolis. [read more]

Sustainability Office opens new facility in Hobson Union
Bemidji State's Sustainability Office welcomed the campus to its new offices in the Hobson Memorial Union on Jan. 30. Located across from the bookstore, the new facility includes an expanded FreeStore, which gives students a place to donate unwanted items that other students are able to take and prevent them from ending up in a landfill. Einstein Bros and Papa John's now open in Hobson Union 
Shortly after the spring semester got underway, Einstein Bros® Bagels opened for business in the Hobson Memorial Union. Jan. 16 served as a staff-training day, which gave students and faculty a sneak peek at the coffee, bagels, sandwiches that the venue offers to the campus community, before the shop opened for business on Jan. 17. [read more][photo gallery]

Four BSU students to teach English in China
Later this month, four Bemidji State University students will be traveling to China to teach in accelerated English language development programs. Three of the four will be teaching for one Chinese semester, from this month through August, while the fourth will teach for an entire year. [read more]


BSU recognizes 49ers GM

On Sunday, Jan. 26, about 200 BSU faculty, staff, students, and alumni from the Bemidji region gathered to send well wishes to San Francisco 49ers general manager Trent Baalke, who played football at BSU in the mid-1980s. The photo was featured on the 49ers travel blog as the team made its way to New Orleans for the Super Bowl. 

Beaver Athletics Update
 


Bemidji State University inducted seven individuals and three outstanding teams into its Athletics Hall of Fame as part of the university’s B-Club/Athletic Hall of Fame Weekend, Feb. 1-2. This year's inductions included four former student-athletes, a graduate who has gone on to achieve a tremendous amount as a coach, two outstanding members of the BSU community and three teams that reached the pinnacle of their sport.
