Underwood Hills Neighborhood Association
A new discussion group for Underwood Hills.Hi Neighbors,

After several months of research and neighbor feedback, UHNA Communications Committee has identified a neighborhood discussion group that increases user security and provides a simpler way to find and share information. We are excited to announce that on February 1st, we will transition from the existing UHNA Discuss group to a new discuss platform called NextDoor.

Look for an email invitation to join the NextDoor group today.

Loring Heights recommended NextDoor as great tool to simplify neighborhood communications, and we've been in a testing phase with over a dozen neighbors who gave positive feedback about its simplicity and ease of use.

Highlights of NextDoor are as follows:
  1. Users can continue participating in discussion via email as they always have.
  2. NextDoor has personal filtering options that allow you to choose from whom you do & do not receive messages.
  3. The system allows a directory of vendor referrals (plumbers, painters, dentists, etc.) and local businesses, making it much easier to find quality vendors.
  4. The group also serves as a directory for neighbors who choose to make their information public to the group.
  5. You have flexibility and control over the frequency and types of messages you receive (i.e. real time, daily digest, only urgent messages, etc.)
  6. It is not moderated, but a person may be removed from the group for several violations of the group's terms of use.
  7. You may join by accepting an email invitation or by signing up here, however it is quicker to accept an email invite from a neighbor - see more info here.
  8. Most importantly, NextDoor helps us avoid another leak of private information on the web (UH Kids List). Our NextDoor group is not searchable via internet search engines. Read more about their security and privacy settings here.

To Join the new Discuss Group

E-mail invitations to join the group will be sent out today.

Once you've accepted the invitation to join, you can start a new discussion thread by e-mailing post@underwoodhillsga.nextdoor.com or by logging into the website and using the web interface (similar to Facebook).

The current UHNA Discussion Yahoo group will be taken offline Feb. 1st.

The guidelines for posting on the NextDoor discussion group can be found here.
