Announcing: Global Opportunities Minnesota

The University of Minnesota has launched Global Opportunities Minnesota (GO Minnesota), a new unit offering short-term academic programs for international students and professionals, and semester study options for international undergraduate non-degree students. This unique program builds on the strengths of the University of Minnesota and offers a high quality academic experience that will educate and connect people from around the world.

Starting Fall 2013, GO Minnesota plans to offer these diverse cultural and academic programs:

  • University Exploration Academy, which is a short-term summer college preparation course for international high school students.
  • Enrichment Seminars are short-term (2-4 week) theme-based programs for university students and professionals from abroad.
  • Minnesota Semester is a study abroad program for non-degree and non-exchange international students who would like to experience a semester at the University of Minnesota.

In addition to enrolling in select U of M courses, Minnesota Semester students will also enjoy an expanded orientation program and group cultural outings. Visit www.GOminnesota.umn.edu for more information.

Research at Minnesota Featured on Big Ten Network Series

The next installment of a new Big Ten Network series, “BTN LiveBIG,” will showcase University of Minnesota researchers exploring treatments for critical brain conditions and developing lasting solutions to environmental challenges. The half-hour show will profile landmark strides made by Dr. Karen Ashe in her passionate pursuit to understand the cause of Alzheimer’s disease and discover a treatment for this devastating condition. It will also follow Professor Peter Sorensen in his holistic quest to mitigate the effects of aquatic invasive species and restore the natural ecosystem of Minnesota’s lakes and waterways.
