Fine Art Ezine!

Dear <<First Name>> ,

I hope this finds you well. I am happily anticipating the arrival of Spring and the joyful awakening of mother nature! I love seeing all those fresh spring colors and getting back out on location in warmer temperatures. It has been a busy and by times cold winter. As some of you know I also teach elementary school 80% , plus am an artist and mother, so I call myself a juggler of life!

I have been exploring new concepts for both my art and personal growth. Some of those concepts are related to creating nurturing spaces in one's life both physically and internally.

I am trying to take more momentary pauses to enjoy small moments. I believe it is the culmination of these moments that really bring the most joy. Like today for instance when I was writing this ezine I stopped for a few minutes to take note of a soft snow gently falling from above. It was such a quiet and cheerful moment which made me feel grateful and calm.

I have contemplated creating a blog someday where I would record these moments and invite others to record their personal moments as well. I think it would be a neat and enlightening project. What do you think?

Believe me I know how busy life can get, however, I also know how important it is to take a few moments to slow down and enjoy the present moment! Painting is one way I am able to do this joyfully.

Wishing you pleasant and peaceful moments in the next month as you juggle life!

Warmly,

Debbie

Thoughts of Spring

As winter blankets the earth in white, thoughts of Spring bring comfort. Pussy willows rescued from last Spring stand happily in their glass encasement. Their soft texture evokes memories of childhood where  imaginations spun stories of these mini felines.
It was even said they mewed softly when unattended.

Today they are accompanied by a spring bird and ribbon. Their companions gleefully rejoice, knowing that Spring will bring the earth to life within a short while. Patience and time will be one’s keeper as nature continues its journey bringing Spring to our door in due time.

Since childhood, I have had an adoration for pussy willows and am always delighted to see them in early Spring. They are one of the first forms of life on trees, a sign that the world is about to awaken from its winter slumber! As children we loved making up stories about them and pretended they were small kittens. Their softness always felt so comforting as we rubbed them against our cheeks.

Last Spring I rescued these pussy willows before they turned to seed. I took them home to my studio, set up my still life and began this painting. Then the warmer weather came and if you have been following me for long, you know that nature becomes my studio! Painting on location beckons and I'm off playing in nature's vast outdoor studio. Needless, to say my painting remained unfinished until recently.

I am so happy I decided to complete it during the time we were receiving frigid weather.  It made me happy and gave me hope that Spring would be coming soon!

Do you have fond memories of Pussy Willows?

Exploring the Concept of Space

I continue to be fascinated with the concept of one's space and how it affects our state of mind.
I am particularly interested in exploring ideas and concepts on how fine art can uplift our space by creating a safe and meditative area for our busy minds.

One book I have been enjoying and adding sticky tabs to various sections is called "Soul Space" by Xorin Balbes. It discusses ways in which you can transform your home to be a reflection of your true self; even if it is a busy household.

I loved reading the stories about clients Balbes had worked with and how they transformed their space into a place they could truly call home and most of all was a reflection of their true self. Sounds a bit philosophical I know, but it was an easy and enjoyable read.

I have found this philosophy has been apart of my painting and subject matter for quite some time. New ideas are brewing as I explore this concept further. Stay tuned!

I loved this quote in the book about the affects of clearing physical clutter from your space.

"By clearing out the noise in your home, you will be able to hear the whispers within you and give them voice."

Sooooo now I am on a decluttering binge again--getting an early jump on my Spring Cleaning and ridding small corners of unnecessary clutter.  I have to admit it does feel satisfying and freeing!

How about you?

(P.S. Stay on the look out for future blog and website posts on this topic!)
