Dear *|FNAME|*,

Welcome to the second month of 2013.  Thank you to all the members who filled out the KCC survey.  Tessa will be putting together the results and should have feed back to the members soon.  The member survey will be a good blueprint for the board to follow as we expand in 2013.

***KCC needs a new home

  • The New Grand Hotel is expanding it's offices and as such will not be renting the KCC office location after May 1, 2013.  We are now in need of a new location and will be looking.  If anyone knows of any locations that might be suitable for the Carshare to move into please let the office know.

Member News for January 2013

  • We are organizing the annual AGM for the Kootenay Carshare for the end of March.  A final time and location will be announced to all members by the end of February and on our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/KootenayCarshare.  This year we will be exploring the theme of "shared ownership" and how this relates to the KCC.  Also we will be getting approval for the 2013 budget and election of board members.  If you should have an interest in running for a seat on the KCC board please contact the office and I will be happy to give you all the information you might need.

  • We would like to inform members of the proper use of the KCC emergency number 250 509-2002.  This number is meant for serious operational issues with KCC vehicles , it is not meant for regular member issues.  It is better that members contact the KCC office with regular member issues.
  •  What is a serious operational issue to call the emergency cell number:  Vehicle will not start or has a major mechanical upon starting, lock box frozen or key missing, vehicle has a flat tire upon arrive at the vehicle, member encounters a major mechanical issue with the vehicle while driving.
  • What is not an issue to call the emergency cell number: Member locked the keys in the vehicle, vehicle not at location, rescheduling of a bookings, driving issues, minor vehicle issues, flat tire while driving, running out of gas while driving.
  • Nelson is happy to welcome our new vehicle cleaner.  Aire-Paul will be keeping our fleet in sparkling, shining and fresh scented shape.  Daniel will still be covering all maintenance issue but Aire-Paul will be the one keeping your KCC ride in clean shape.  Lets help out the cleaner and all our members by remembering to clean our own garbage out of the vehicles after every use.
  • The Carshare office in Nelson will be closed from March 5th to March 8th.  The manager can still be reached by email but for emergencys the members should call the Fleet coordinator at 250 509-2002.
  • We have been having issues with interior lights being left on, namely in the 98 Honda.  Please be sure to check that all lights are off after you use a vehicle.
  • Please note: The policy of leaving vehicles at 1/2 a tank rather than a 1/4 tank.  The grace period has ended and now members will be fined for leaving less than 1/2 a tank of gas in the vehicles.
  • One issue that has arisen in the Carshare is persons booking vehicles for driving to airports such as Castlegar and Trail. All airports in the Kootenays are difficult to get into in the winter months so flight delays are common. The problem arises when a member is delayed in getting back as they are not able to return the vehicle at their allotted time and other members who have this vehicle booked are inconvenienced.  The KCC office does not want to fine members for events beyond their control but on the same note all members are entitled to have the vehicles at the locations when they book them. The office is now suggesting if you book a KCC vehicle for the purpose of going to an airport in the winter that you extend your booking by 24 hours. If your flight is on time you can return the vehicle early and modify your booking. Then you can contact the office and we will credit you for any modified hours as the vehicle is now back in the fleet but if you should be delayed then you have a window that does not inconvenience other members

Reminders

  • Please remember that a minimum booking on a Carshare vehicle is 1/2 hour.  You cannot book a vehicle for 1/4 of an hour due to our 1/4 hour grace period.
  • Please fill out your logs clearly.  With new staff coming on board it will help a lot as he is getting used to all the members.  This includes filling out your first and last name, start and end times and signing your gas receipts.  Thank you!
  • We have business accounts!  If your business has multiple drivers let the Carshare take the liability off you.  Click here for more info.
  • Reminder about reporting vehicle damage: if the damage is serious give us a call in the office (250-352-2033 or 250-509-2002 for the emergency cell).  If you report an issue in the log book we won't know about it until the 10th of the following month!  For larger issues we'd like to know sooner than that so we can get it fixed.
  • Remember to take the lockbox off the window before you drive away! At least one Nelson vehicle was seen driving around with a lock box on its window this month
  • We are participating in Community Dollars, you can pay for 5% of your Carshare bill in local currency.
  • The black 02 Honda is now back in Kaslo and the White 02 Honda has returned to Nelson.
  • The Mazda Protege is now located in Fairview and the Toyota Echo is now in Uphill.
