Safety Day at Gateway: A special thanks!
A special thank you to our partners; The Milwaukee Area OSHA office, the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) Wisconsin Chapter, and WisCon along with all of the vendors and participants for making this year's Safety Day a huge success. On March 13th, approximately 130 professionals walked away from Gateway's Racine Campus Conference Center with a better understanding of safety procedures and regulations that will benefit their workplace and the community! 



Software Workshops

The following software professional development workshops are eight hours in length and will be held at the SC Johnson iMET Center.
  • Quick Books Advanced, Thursdays, April 4 & 11, 1:00 - 5:00 pm or 5:00 - 9:00 pm
  • Microsoft Excel Beginning, Fridays, April 5 & 12, 8:00 am - Noon
  • Microsoft Project Manager, Thursdays, April 18 & 25, 1:00 - 5:00 pm or 5:00 - 9:00 pm
  • Microsoft Excel Intermediate, Fridays, April 26 & May 3, 8:00 am - Noon
  • Microsoft Access, Thursdays, May 2 & 9, 1:00 - 5:00 pm or 5:00 - 9:00 pm
Cost per eight hour workshop: $149

If you are interested in training, but do not have the time, consider attending a Microsoft Express Workshop. These sessions take place over the lunch hour from Noon-1:00 pm for only $19, which includes lunch.

CNA Specialized ABE/ELL Program

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) specialized Adult Basic Education (ABE) and/or high level English Language Learners (ELL) is a unique program which offers additional instructional time for students. This program follows the I-BEST model which refers to Integrated Basic Education Skills Training. In the I-BEST program, students have the benefit of two instructors. One is a subject matter expert, and the other is a specialist in basic skills such as English, reading and math.
 
For residents of Racine, Kenosha, and Walworth Counties, there may be funding available for program tuition. All applicants must take a placement test, and a criminal background check.

Choose from one of two information sessions at the Burlington Center, 496 McCanna Parkway, Burlington, WI 53105 - RM 114.
April 15, 2013 from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
April 22, 2013 from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

CNC Boot Camp #16
Completion Ceremony

April 19, 2013 from 1:00 -  2:00 pm at the SC Johnson iMET Center. Employers are invited to conduct interviews from 2:30 - 4:30 pm  after the ceremony.  We would like to find placement for our graduates, and we have made every effort to prepare a qualified candidate who is ready to work. If you have questions or want to sign up to conduct interviews, contact Instructor Rick Lofy at  lofyr@gtc.edu

Welding employers, please save the date for the Welding Fabrication II Boot Camp Completion Ceremony on June 21st at 1:00 pm. Interviews will follow the ceremony at 2:30 pm.

Save the Date: Summer Camps!

Gateway is excited to announce the addition of STEAM camps that will take place at the SC Johnson iMET Center in Sturtevant through the Fab Lab! STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math. 

There will be two sessions for middle school students in 6th - 8th grade. Each camp will run from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm. 
  • Boy's Camp: Week of June 17th
  • Girl's Camp: Week of June 24th
Registration will open in April, visit the Fab Lab website for updates!

Lean Operations Certificate Program

Businesses of all types are utilizing lean principles as the primary continuous improvement methodology. Lean changes businesses through techniques that create proven results that translate directly to the bottom-line.

Applying lean principles to your business can:

  • Reduce set-up time
  • Multiply inventory turns
  • Maximize profit

Lean Six Sigma Green Belt

  • An overview of the Lean enterprise and the Six Sigma organizational structure
  • The elements of Define and Measure in the DMAIC process
  • Value stream mapping
  • Using the Analyze, Improve, and Control elements of the DMAIC process to develop a future state
  • Completion and reporting of individual workplace improvement project
Six Sigma Green Belt certification will be awarded upon successful completion of all classroom instruction, on-line courses, exams and a project that utilizes Lean/Six Sigma within the student’s workplace.

Investment Management for Small Business

Join Launch Box for an upcoming workshop on Wednesday April 24, 2013 from 7:30 to 9:00 am as we host Robert W. Baird & Co., Financial Advisors, John Busey and Joseph Cronin at the SC Johnson iMET Center, Sturtevant.
 
Together John and Joe will lead an informative discussion on Investment Management for Small Business; owners/employees. This presentation will provide an overview of the importance of saving as a small business owner, investment/asset allocation and diversification.
