Artichokes are Flowers Too!
There are five feet of snow on the ground in Michigan, but here at the Kensington Farmers' Market we have 150 feet of uninterrupted organic produce. Besides the beautiful flowers that Thomas Farms brings to our market every week we have flowers you can eat.
Artichokes are at their peak right now (yes, artichokes are flowers) along with three varieties of cauliflowers that will make delicious side dishes (see side bar).
Salads are another great celebration of Spring. How about some romaine, oak leaf, butter, or organic arugula and spinach to put on your table?
The asparagus from the Delta and the Salinas Valley are another indicator that the Spring Equinox has once again brought longer days to grow new harvests for the Market. As a California Certified Farmers' Market, we grow what we sell.
