World Premier Art Exhibition, Repatriation and Deception:  Post-World War II Soviet Armenia, paintings and drawings by Hazel Antaramian-Hofman, will open on Thursday, March 21, 2013, 5PM-8PM, with a special audio-visual artist presentation at 6PM.  The artist will discuss her past two-year historical and ethnographic findings, to include excerpted interview quotes and never before publically-shown photographs of the tragic consequences experienced by Diaspora Armenians from around the world upon “returning” to an unknown Armenian homeland soon after the end of World War II.  Her travels to interview surviving repatriates have taken her around the country, to France, and Armenia. From scanned photographs, Antaramian-Hofman uses the pictures along with period Soviet poster art and iconic cultural symbols of Armenia to create multi-media-based paintings and drawings. For more information call the AMFEH at 559-224-1001.

Abstract in concept with a nod to Pop Art. Hungarian-born Nicholas Shepherd's acrylic paintings reflect a lifetime of exploration into the primary facets of raw color compositions. Shepherd's works are deceptively simple, yet brim with crayon bright color, balance and visual energy. A collection of his paintings is on display at Boling Fine Arts Gallery through March with an ArtHop North reception scheduled for March 21 from 5 to 8PM. Free admission. 5100 N Sixth, Suite 120.

Featuring artwork by Jeffrey M. Willis. "My artwork takes a raw and dramatic approach and view of the emotions of the soul. In my work, I allow the feelings of a particular moment in time to flow from pen and brush to the media. My inspiration comes from music, people, and many other aspects of day to day life that have formed me as an individual and an artist. Having engaged many of the emotions we all feel I see my art work as a diverse idea that has been arranged into a number of new conceptually layered pieces."
