Stonehaven news...

Join the Stonehaven community-wide yard sale Saturday, April 20, from 8am -12pm. Sponsor Leigh Bryant (of Keller Williams Realty) is creating a map; contact her if you want to be included on it. Or, just put up a sign and you're in business.

Recruiting hosts for First Friday!  We join with our Stonehaven neighbors from 6 to 8pm on the first Fridays of May through October, gathering casually in yards, on patios and on decks for a chance to visit.  Everyone brings an appetizer to share and whatever they care to drink.  Will you consider hosting? Email Barbara Birge at bbirge@aol.com.

Boy Scout Troop 33 based at Sardis Presbyterian Church is having an Open House event for boys 11 and up at 7:30pm on April 22 at the church Scout Hut.  There will be activities for the boys including mock camp sites, pioneering activities, and refreshments, as well as an informational meeting for parents.  Brett Harris 704 839-9543.

Neighbor and certified beekeeper Sammy Myers (6646 Wheeler Dr) sells his bees' wonderful honey to neighbors, usually in June or July.  If any bee clusters are spotted, let him know and he can remove them to add to his hives! Stay tuned for when Sammy's Stonehaven Honey goes on sale because it sells out fast.

Both of Stonehaven's swim and racquet clubs are now accepting applications for 2013.  They offer swim teams, tennis leagues, summer camps and family fun all summer long!

School news...

Any teacher, child or parent will tell you how important the EOG (End of Grade) tests are. Part of the EOG stress for the schools, however, is being able to find proctors! McClintock Middle School needs 45 (45!!!!) volunteer proctors for each of testing dates May 20 - 23.  And they need 15 proctors for testing dates May 13-16.  Stonehaven friends, this is a BIG NEED.  They provide training and refreshments, and you will be assisting an appreciative classroom teacher.  Training begins at 8:30am and testing runs until 1pm (accommodations can be made for those who must leave sooner). To volunteer, email coordinator Summer Rogers. Or go to www.signupgenius.com and click Find A Signup, then type in her email:   summer.rogers@cms.k12.nc.us.
