Member News for March 2013

  • We have a new home.  The KCC has just found a new home for our Nelson office.  As of May 1 we will be located at 525 Josephine street right next too the InstaCash store on Josephine.  We are located on the second floor and the stairwell is just 100 ft from the corner of Baker street.  The new spot should be a big boost to our presents in Nelson and help members with a convenient location to drop by for office business.  Please drop by in the month of May and we'll treat you to a fresh pot of OSO coffee. We will be moving the last week of April, if any members could volunteer a few hours that week to help us move please contact the office.
  • We have a new vehicle in the fleet.  The KCC just purchased a 2000 4D Neon standard.  The Neon is in Nelson now and will be added to the fleet this week.
  • We have had a lot of damage to the fleet this month.  Please be sure to do your walk arounds before and after your vehicle use.  The sooner we can be notified of damage the sooner we can get the vehicle fixed and help prevent further damage.
  • Please be sure to attend our AGM at the end of the month.  This is a great way to let the KCC know your opinion on any issues that might before the board.
  • We have had some concern with members being out of pocket for funds used to fill the vehicles with gas when they currently have a credit with the KCC.  So now any member with a credit on their account will be fully entitled to receive a cheque from the office for any gas purchase made during that month.  All a member will need to do is contact the office and request a cheque for their gas purchases instead or receiving a credit on their account.
  • We have been having an issue with members forgetting to place their gas receipts in the vehicles.  I wanted to remind everyone that the receipt is needed for the KCC to get our HST back from the government.  Please treat your gas receipt like cash and be sure to place it (with your name on it) in the envelopes provided.  At the same time recording the amount on your log.  If you need a copy of your receipt please be sure that the receipt is placed in the envelope by the end of the month.

Reminders

  • Please remember that a minimum booking on a Carshare vehicle is 1/2 hour.  You cannot book a vehicle for 1/4 of an hour due to our 1/4 hour grace period.
  • Please fill out your logs clearly.  With new staff coming on board it will help a lot as he is getting used to all the members.  This includes filling out your first and last name, start and end times and signing your gas receipts.  Thank you!
  • Please note: The policy of leaving vehicles at 1/2 a tank rather than a 1/4 tank.
  • Reminder about reporting vehicle damage: if the damage is serious give us a call in the office (250-352-2033 or 250-509-2002 for the emergency cell).  If you report an issue in the log book we won't know about it until the 10th of the following month!  For larger issues we'd like to know sooner than that so we can get it fixed.
  • Remember to take the lockbox off the window before you drive away! At least one Nelson vehicle was seen driving around with a lock box on its window this month
  • We are participating in Community Dollars, you can pay for 5% of your Carshare bill in local currency.
