Congratulations to our colleagues at Columbia, NYU, and CUNY for winning one of the National Science Foundation Innovation Corps (I-Corps) awards! For those unfamiliar with the program, I-Corps provides a set of activities and programs that prepares NSF-funded scientists and engineers to extend their innovations beyond the laboratory and into start-up companies. Columbia Engineering will work with CUNY and NYU to build the New York City Regional Innovation Node (NYCRIN)—the only I-Corps node in the Northeast. We are excited about having even more support resources available to entrepreneurs at Columbia, in NYC, and from around the region. More on the program can be found here.
Speaking of which, we hope to see you this Wednesday, March 20th, 12pm at our Entrepreneurship Lecture Series to hear lessons learned from Vishal Misra, Columbia Computer Science professor and co-founder of Infinio (formerly Silver Lining), which went from inception to seed round to a $12M Series A in 9 short months. Vishal will be interviewed by CTV’s own Calvin Chu, discussing launching the company, pitching to VCs, negotiating early financing, hiring a team, scaling up the R&D, and preparing for product launch. Register here. We hope to see you on Wednesday!
Sincerely,
Orin Herskowitz
