Lord Siva is the eye and heart of the soul. He uses His two eyes to enjoy the world of sensations and the third eye to relish the beauty of the self. Third eye is shut to the world because it opens to the inner reality. On the night of Sivaratri, Siva with His eternal consort Sakti dances in the hearts of His devotees. Ardent devotees keep awake through the shivering night so that they hear, as they are gathered into the dark embrace of slumber, the beat of the little drum and the reverberations of Siva's footfall as well as the fluttering swirl of Sakti's swings that awaken the sleeping serpent of thousand hoods and blazing eyes and forked tongues, setting a million stormy flames of spiritual fervor. On this auspicious Sivaratri Day, chant OM NAMA SIVAYA and experience the firework of Siva's blessings.
