Photographer on campus

SWU Marketing and Communications is bringing a professional photographer on the Central campus, spending all day Tuesday and Wednesday getting various shots in classes (traditional and AGS) and around the campus for new marketing and web pieces.

Partners in Time – Haydn and Mozart

Spend Sunday afternoon with the classics! Professor Jane Dill will perform W.A. Mozart’s Piano Concerto in C Major, part of Partners in Time – Haydn and Mozart, April 21 at Southern Wesleyan University in Central. Also performing will be the SWU Concert Choir, Dr. Melanie Rowell and several guest performers.  Read more>>

Next Monday, April 22 is Earth Day. It's also the day of SWUGREEN2013, an initiative dedicated to beautifying the SWU campus in Central. Volunteers are needed for trash pickup and to plant flowers. Read more>>

Barbershop all-star

Don Campbell, left, SWU professor of music, conducts the Directors College Chorus at Harmony University, the international school for barbershoppers. Campbell was recognized in a book recently published by the Barbershop Harmony Society. Read more>>

STEEP students recognized

Students in STEEP (Secondary Transition Education and Employability Program) helped the SWU Dining Services staff March 27. Pioneer College Caterers organized a recognition luncheon for the students. Congratulations!

Chen Chen, a 2011 Media Communication graduate, accepted a position with Nissa Jewelry as a fashion jewelry marketing/PR assistant. She also attended graduate school at S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. Chen is a native of Hefei, China.

Brooke Davis, who graduated in May 2012 and Amanda Jones, who will be graduating this May, will both be starting the accelerated nursing program at Clemson this fall.

Tish Winchester, who is graduating this May 2013, will start her RN program at Tri-County Technical College next fall.

Phillip Fritts, a media communication graduate, recently accepted a position with Blue Ridge Broadcasting (106.9 & 106.7 The Light) as events and audience relations coordinator. He starts May 1.

Marathon runner

By now, Rupal Shah, a 2004 Biology/Chemistry graduate, has laced up her running shoes and is warming up for the Boston Marathon. The 2013 Boston Marathon will be streamed live online for free at http://watchlive.baa.org/ starting at 9:30 a.m. ET.

This week in chapel

April 15-17 - Wellness Week Chapels with Nicole Braddock Bromley – Nicole will share her journey from victim to victory over impossible circumstances. She will speak at chapels at 10 a.m. April 15 and 17 and also an evening chapel at 7:30 p.m. April 16. Learn more about Nicole from her website.

Liver (liver function study) - $10
CBC (hemoglobin, hematocrit) - $7

SWU helps 'a home away from home'

Southern Wesleyan University is collecting items to make life easier for families staying with hospitalized children in the Augusta area. According to Jason Norton, regional director of Southern Wesleyan’s North Augusta education center, the university is partnering with Ronald McDonald House Charities® and offering to waive the application fee for prospective students who bring in a donation.
