New Video from O'Brien Guitars

It has been a busy year so far at O'Brien Guitars. Several students have come in and built guitars already. Between students I have been working on my own guitars to show at the Healdsburg Guitar festival in August. If you have never been to this guitar festival then it is well worth the trip. Here are some pics of a Brazilian rosewood classical guitar that is being built for the show. 

I have repaired a beautiful 1910 koa ukulele and also began work on restoring an 1890 Martin guitar. My blog shows the guitar the day I took the back off. 

In June I will be in Brazil Lecturing at the Universidade Federal de Paraná. They have the only university level lutherie course in Brazil and have invited me to come down for some masteclasses. 

In July I will be giving a steel string guitar building course in the State of Minas Gerias in Brazil with Brazilian luthier Luciano Borges. The course is already full and still there are many people wanting to take it. A waiting list has been created. 

With all this going on I still find time to put out more of my popular Luthier Tips du Jour instructional videos as well as the new Luthier Tips du Jour mailbag series where I answer viewers' questions. The latest video was on how to install pre-carved and semi carved necks. Al of my videos are now available via my website as well as on youtube and LMI's website.

So, as you can see it I hit the ground running this year and things are shaping up to continue to be busy all year long.
