Dear Moms and Dads
Welcome back to another exciting Term. We trust that you all had a wonderful holiday and Easter weekend.  It is lovely to have you all back at school again and we look forward to a great time of fun and learning together.

A big thank you to Ingrid and her team who capably looked after the children during holiday care. The children were able to bring their bikes to school each day and enjoyed some lovely Easter crafts and egg hunts.

PARENT WORKSHOP
Lisa Pedersen will present 2 workshops of 1 hour each over 2 evenings this term, at a cost of R40 per couple per workshop to cover costs. The workshops promise to be interactive and informative. Being a parent is not always easy and we all need a pat on the back or some new ideas at times. Please join us on Thursday 2nd May and Thursday 16th May from 7pm-8pm for a worthwhile evening. Please note a baby sitter will be provided if necessary at an additional cost of R10.
 WORLD EPILEPSY DAY
The ‘Alexi Campaign’ would like to thank all those who bought stickers and donated R5 as part of Epilepsy Awareness Day. R400 was raised by the school.

IMMUNISATION CAMPAIGN
In April and May, nurses will be visiting all crèches and Pre-primary schools to give polio drops and measles vaccine to children under 5 years of age. Please complete the attached form if you are interested.

BUILDING WORK

We have finally come to the end of the building work at the school. We thank you all for your patience during all the construction. Once we have decided on a colour, painting of the white walls will commence.

Please remember Rita in your thoughts and prayers. She had a mastectomy during the holidays and is recovering at home for the next 2-3 months. The doctors were pleased with the operation and we hope that Rita makes a full and speedy recovery.
(Thelma will be assisting in the Rainbow class while Rita is away. Patience will be helping with the cleaning duties in Thelma's place.)

BREAK UP DAY COIN COLLECTION

Thank you so much to those who brought in their loose change at the end of last term. It will be donated to Rainbow Educare.
STUDENTS
We would like to welcome 3 students to our school. All 3 students will be working between the 2 Grade R classrooms. They will be with us for approximately 4 weeks. We encourage them to learn all they can from our wonderful school and look forward to some exciting activities and rings that they will present to the children.

EMOTIONAL LITERACY

The theme for this month is:
“Friendships”
-As we all know, feeling wanted and needed and being a part of a group is most important. Not only for children but each and every human being.
-Remember to include ‘play dates’ in your list of things to do. Your children need to socialise and play dates are valuable ways to improve and develop these social skills.
Here is the link for our website.

The thought for the week:

“My Father gave me the greatest gift anyone could give another person, he believed in me.” – Jim Valvano

It's time for indoor games. Wonderful!!!! Here the Rainbows are doing puzzles. Yes puzzles are great and help to improve visual skills as well as concentration. A large family puzzle for the winter--what a lovely idea!
We are so lucky in our school as we have so much space. Here the Penguin children can still play outside even if it is raining, as we have an under-cover area with recently installed blinds to keep out the rain and wind.
Mrs Engelbrecht is working with a small micro group. The teachers use this method each day to teacher and assess specific skills. How wonderful to know that your child gets many opportunities to learn and grasp concepts. The teacher has the opportunity to work in large groups, small groups and one-on-one. Full time assistant teachers are available in each class to assist the teachers with the rest of the group at these times.
Fish Hoek Pre-Primary gives the children an opportunity to experience and discover. Now that is what learning is all about!!!!!
We are concentrating on working together and friendships this month as part of out Emotional Literacy skills. It is so fantastic to see a group of children playing, sharing and interacting in a positive manner. With careful guidance, a good example, opportunities to discuss feelings and ideas, creating and developing good, strong self-esteems in children, this is certainly achieved.
Our 2012 Grade R children and their parents came back to visit us. It was fabulous to see them again and hear how 'Big School' is going!

OPEN DAY FOR FISH HOEK PRE-PRIMARY

Lets share our wonderful school with family and friends. Fish Hoek Pre-Primary will be having their Open Day on Saturday 20th April 2013. 9am-11am.
Please spread the word and let more children benefit from our fabulous, warm, caring and educational environment.
We cater for children 2 years until 6 years which includes a Grade R year. Our Grade R's follow the WCED curriculum. (CAPS)
